This Week's Barks

Theme 6
Xander, Xander, Xander

"...the votes are in, and it's time for my concession speech." -- So said Xander himself.

This past week, we were in double reruns for the episode The Zeppo, the one that started the entire Dingo Action! thing...so I decided to do a theme-based action all about Xander! Thanks for playing, you nifty people! (er, good dingoes?)..Now, here's what y'all said:

cemetery dingochick: Which animal should Xander be possessed by?:

   A zebra.
   A leech. (Or two.)
   A bunny.
   Oz.

The Winner: A bunny.

I'd have maybe gone with zebra. ....like the heimlich, with stripes?

Ch-ch-changes.

Xander's character changed from Season 1 to Season 2:

Because of that really noticeable haircut.
Because too much country music does that to a guy.
Because everyone saw right through his petty charade.

The Winner: Because of that really noticeable haircut.

All hail the Flowbee.

Hey, it could have happened...

If Xander had met vampXander:

   Fur woulda been flyin'.
Mix in a little rectal surgery and it's his best day ever!
He'd have run like a woman out to the parking lot.
Dang, why didn't they show us that scene?

The Winner: He'd have run like a woman out to the parking lot.

Guess he wasn't wrong when he asked vampWillow: "People afraid of me?"

Xander:

   Probably watched the All-Star game.
   Should take up the guitar.
Should grow a goatee. And wear love beads.
   Probably enjoys eating flapjacks.

The Winner: Probably enjoys eating flapjacks.

A la mode...

Guess he's done with the book-learnin'...

If Xander had a favorite word, it might be:

   Hummina.
   Help!
   Gyuh.
   Angel.

The Winner: Help!

And it only beat "Gyuh" by one...hm.

RERUN BONUS -- the title just breaks it up a little.

I am particularly fond of Xander's:

   Style of dress.
French Fry theater. (I meant Fish Stick, but this is what I actually typed.)
   Jar opening skills.

The Winner: Food theater, anyone?

I wish Xander would:

Open up a taco stand. I mean, he's already got the costume..(Inca Mummy Girl)
   Tiptoe through the tulips.
Invite Cordy on his road trip.
Invite Anya on his road trip.

The Winner: Invite Anya on his road trip.

Er, well I guess if she came back in time..

Xander is cooler than:

   Hannibal Lecter.
   Ebenezer Scrooge.
   Uncle Scrooge.
   Archie Andrews.
   Jughead Jones.
   Underdog.

The Winner: Jughead Jones.

We know Xander's Uncle Rory. But what's his aunt's name?:

   Maude.
   Helen Roper.

The Winner: Maude.

Xander, Xander, Xander.

This week, I asked you which season have you liked the best with regards to Xander's character, and why? I also said that you could name your favorite scene ever with him. The results were kinda split. Some of you dug the less cynical Xander we saw in Season 1. Others preferred Season 2, when he began going out with Cordy. And some of you thought Season 3 was a good mesh for Xander, in terms of his maturity and scope of character and stuff. Okay well let's see what we've got this week, byte-wise.

But first -- Standard disclaimer: Can't post 'em all. Hope the authors don't mind being put up here, and some may be abridged. And again, no name, no bark byte recognition (even though I still like reading what you thought; make it easy on me and put a name on there, please! Thanks!)

Season one, because he was still fun to be around and not so serious about everything like he is now. Xander is still one of my favorite characters tho, I wish he had been more involved in this season's eppies. Still, Season 1 he was still somewhat innocent and light-hearted, now he's seen too much and has let his jealousies get the better of him.

Paul said:

I'd have to say Season 3, what with episodes like The Zeppo, the catastrophic relationship with Cordelia (grrr), and the entirely-too-short involvement with Anya. Hopefully now that Dead Weight aka Angel is gone, Xander will have more to do besides snarl at undead losers.

From Steph:

Second season, because he was with Cordy. That is, of course, barring the stupid, stupid scene in Becoming II when her didn't tell Buffy that Willow was trying the curse again. Bad Xander! Bad!

Lorialpha said:

I liked second season best, but you can't beat that scene in The Puppet Show when Xander was playing with Sid -- "REDRUM!! REDRUM!!"

I really agree!! About the Sid part, of course.

From Redbeard:

Season One -- he was more balanced and less deliberately obtuse. However, the all-time best Xander moment was paying for Cordy's prom dress. (Or helping with Angel at Christmas, I can't decide.)

Wyatt said:

The Xan man has come into his own in season 3, his character has developed more as three dimensional character. The changes each character have undergone have been significant (ok not for Angel) as they have matured, become more human. In season 1 he was just goofy, season 2 he was just self-centered, season 3 he's self-centered, goofy, and taking responsibility for his actions, operating independently of the Scooby gang, becoming overall more believable....My favorite Xander scene was [in Phases] when he staked vamp Teresa. No fuss no muss, he reacted to the situation as a Slayerette, not as cool guy, not as frightened bunny, he became the believable character in that scene.

From Zpike:

I know it's lame, but he's not so immature (not very, at least), he's able to forgive both Cordy and Angel, plus we have the above-mentioned The Zeppo. Which in itself is a good enough reason to name season 3 the best Xander season.

Erin said:

...the third season is my fave Xander season - some of the verbal sparring with Cordelia was fab - but his conversations with Anya were classics - especially the "men like the action movie" speech and the barfy feelings line. I'd also like to credit The Zeppo in its entirety.

Xander Harris, winning for best scene...?

Nirak said:

Fave Xan scene: Scene on the sofa with Praying Mantis "teacher" who drugs [Xander] to seduce him. Talk about your extra credit assignment! Of course, becoming a meal on wheels for her offspring sucks.

Friendly reminder: If you've filled out the bottom part about the site before, no need to again..but leave your name if you don't mind..I like to know who said what! Plus, you could be featured on this page. Okay that's probably more of a deterrent, but hey.
