This Week's Barks

Phases

"...the votes are in, and it's time for my concession speech." -- So said Xander himself.

This past week, you told me what you thought about Phases...Thanks for playing, you nifty people! (er, good dingoes?)..Now, here's what y'all said:

dingochick: Seeing Cordy and Willow bond:

Reminds me of dancing cartoon pigs.
   Makes me think of lemonade.
Suddenly makes me want a tomato.

The Winner: Reminds me of dancing cartoon pigs.

But it only beat out the "lemonade" choice by one...interesting! Actually, they don't remind me of any of these things...they remind me of all of them!

Maybe no one really expected Xander to out his memory of the hyena incident..? Anyhoo..

The most unexpected moment of this episode was:

When the band fled the stage in a moment of panic.
   The "Larry's gay" revelation.
When Giles laughed at Xander's moon pie joke.

The Winner: When Giles laughed at Xander's moon pie joke.

Well, yes, but...admit it, it would've been funny to see Cibo Matto flee the stage, right?

Okay, an antagonist who didn't die in the episode, but it wouldn't have bothered me if he had...

Judging from this episode, Cain:

Washes his hair a little too infrequently.
   Is a licensed dentist.
Let the door hit him in the ass on the way out of town.
Is always looking for a party.
.

The Winner:Let the door hit him in the ass on the way out of town..

Hey, he probably never, ever had a date in high school, did he?

A supporting character...a pirate, a football player, a guy who knows that it's "all about eggwhites."...it's...Larry!

Larry should:

   Appear in more episodes.
   Graduate with honors.
   Enjoy dressing up for Halloween.
   Invite Angel to play darts.

The Winner: Enjoy dressing up for Halloween.

Heh, I was evil with these choices, but it's one of the first times that the darts option made sense... By the way, if it had gotten 2 more votes, it would've won. Think I'll retire it soon...with something else in its place, never fear!

Unfortunately, this wasn't a big surprise for me..and maybe not to most of you, either. Egads I loathe spoilers..anyhoo, we knew about the Ozwolf..but..admit it...

I was hoping the werewolf would be:

   Larry.
   Xander.
   Owen Stadeel.
   Principal Snyder.

The Winner:Principal Snyder.

Owen placed a close second...Did I mention we got lots of comments on the Ozsuit this time?

RERUN BONUS -- the title just breaks it up a little.

If this had been a first season episode:

Willow wouldn't have gotten the guy.
Cordy would have been parking with Kevin.
Joyce would have made Buffy stay home to study.
Angel would have given Buffy that flower.

The Winner:Willow wouldn't have gotten the guy.

Hm..tough choice. Gosh I miss those funny Joyce statements from season 1, especially. Um, moving on.

The best lines in this episode went to:

   Larry.
   Willow.
   Oz.
   Snyder.

The Winner: Oz.

Oz's cousin Jordy:

Is gonna have a hell of a puberty.
   Will never enjoy being tickled.
   Might never go bald.
   Will never drink Coors.

The Winner:Is gonna have a hell of a puberty..

Hey, thanks to Redbeard, who told me the Silver Bullet beer is actually Coors Light. If their commercials had been better, I might have remembered...nah, probably not.

What Did You Think of This Episode?

Then finally, your non-dingo-guided opinion about the episode. It's good to know that we have the wereSuit to keep our thoughts occupied. Heh. Also, many folks mentioned Oz's basic blaseness (? it fits, okay) during his "Is Jordy a werewolf" questioning of his Aunt Maureen.

Most of you dug this episode. There are, of course, a few Oz-haters out there though, who could've done without the episode. "Huh." Heh.

This week there were yet again plenty of fun answers. Can't post 'em all, unfortunately. But here're some of 'em. Hope the authors don't mind. Some may be abridged so I could put more of 'em up...I should make it easier on all of us and draw only 3, but no, I have to indulge...

Let's start with the wereSuit, shall we?

Jaxom said: ...I know everyone says it, but can't they do something about that wolf suit? Ok it has improved but it still looks like the Bradys' shag rug dyed brown. --Snicker. And thanks for mentioning pie in the rest of your reply, too!

Cara said: Oz is great. Even when he looks like an overgrown monkey-man.

kristin said: Conclusive proof that, while they may have mastered dusting and assorted other effects, the wereOz (love the phrase) has a ways to go...

And if that's not enough to convince the costume designers, etc., read on:

Shannyn said:...this was the first episode I talked my boyfriend into sitting down and watching with me (i begged him to give Buffy a chance) and after he saw the "were-suit" he waved it off as cheesy and cheap and vowed never to watch again. Sigh..

Let's move on...

From G-kicker: It was the first episode I ever saw, so it made me a little misty.

Principal Flutie wrote: It was fine. Can't we just leave it at that? Must you continue to push, and push? Okay, I really did LOL when I got this.

JML observed:It was nice to show this rerun this season, you know, just to remind us what Oz's voice sounds like.

Erin said: Anyone want to guess how badly Jordy's teething went?

Heinrich Nest said: Good surprise with it being Oz, the first time. The second time, not so much a surprise.

If you want to see what Bark Bytes have come before, visit The Bark Bytes Archives or Dingo Action Archives..I forgot what I named it...it's pretty small right now. Be sure to take this week's Dingo Action!

Friendly reminder: If you've filled out the bottom part about the site before, no need to again..but leave your name if you don't mind..I like to know who said what! Plus, you could be featured on this page. Okay that's probably more of a deterrent, but hey.
