This Week's Barks

Faith, Hope, & Trick

"...the votes are in, and it's time for my concession speech." -- So said Xander himself.

This past week, you told me what you thought about the episode Faith, Hope & Trick. So..first impressions of Faith and all that...Thanks for playing, you nifty people! (er, good dingoes?)..Now, here's what y'all said:

cemetery dingochick: The one good thing about this episode was:

The use of the word "mosey."
   Buffy's hair.
   The Angel drops-in-from-hell-au-naturel scene.
The fact that a medium soda goes for 89 cents.

The Winner: The Angel drops-in-from-hell-au-naturel scene.

Call me crazy, but I gotta say I was stymied 'bout that soda price.

Sigh. He's no Master, but..

Kakistos:

Probably would have died if he'd taken on the Master.
Lied about the scar; he really gave it to himself by rubbing his eye.
Might have a problem using a mouse.
Used imagery that would have made Whistler proud.

The Winner: Lied about the scar; he really gave it to himself by rubbing his eye.

And it probably happened at home, too. Don't like, most accidents occur in the home?

It's not pie, yet it is...

Demon pizza really comes from:

   Demon Pizza Hut.
   Demono's.
   Godfathers.
   Little Bezoar's.

The Winner: Little Bezoar's.

Pizza, Pizza.

And she seemed so...well, uh...nevermind.

Faith should have:

   Tossed out that pink shirt.
Thought twice before calling Buffy "B."
   Been killed right away.
Asked Buffy if she ever invited Angel to play darts.

The Winner: Been killed right away.

Normally I'd agree but then we have the whole, oh look, a new slayer is activated thing to contend with again.

The show's named after her. She's the main gal, so...please explain to me the following.

No one ever listens to Buffy the first time because:

It would mean that they're not always right.
Gosh, that would mean that Buffy is actually smart!
Then how would they fill the rest of the 45 minutes?
   Their Belltones aren't working.

The Winner: Then how would they fill the rest of the 45 minutes?

Why, with pictures of Angel, of course. (Yag. But I'm sure it would be a selling point for some folks, no?)

RERUN EPISODE BONUS -- the title just breaks it up a little.

The person who had the most interesting shirt on was:

   Oz.
   Xander.
   Willow.
   Faith.

The Winner: Oz.

One thing Buffy probably learned from her mom is:

   How to slice prosciutto.
How to wear a sweater around her shoulders.
How to do that half-smile thing with her mouth.
How to say "nyah" to Snyder.

The Winner: How to say "nyah" to Snyder.

I mean, 'cos it must not be second nature.

I liked this episode:

   Better than I liked Anne.
About as much as I liked Becoming Part 2.
Much better than those dopey star-filled WB ads they keep running.
Because the Happy Burger statue was freaky and cool.

The Winner: Because the Happy Burger statue was freaky and cool.

What Did You Think of This Episode?

Then finally, your non-dingo-guided opinion about this episode. Most of you were into the Angel nudity thing -- I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say most of you are of the chick variety, I guess -- and some of you kind of dug Faith. Now....Check out below for some of the thoughts:

But first -- Standard disclaimer: Can't post 'em all. But here're some of 'em. Hope the authors don't mind. Some may be abridged. And again, no name, no bark byte recognition (even though I still like reading what you thought; make it easy on me and put a name on there, please! Thanks!)

felicia said: I liked this episode....Who would have thought when Faith first came in this ep. that she would turn to the horrible-ugly-boogy-scary-things-that-go-bump-in the-night side????

Queen Vamp concurred: Ok, knowing Faith as we did as the season went on - how did she go from sniveling terror girl to macho killer girl in so short a time???

katie said: Maybe Faith should look into getting something that isn't leather. Besides, isn't leather supposed to be expensive, and yet Faith can't even keep the rent up?......yeesh.

From Dodge: ...I may be in the minority here, but does anybody else think the season might have played out better if Scott Hope had stuck around longer? Maybe we could have been spared the endlessly recycled Buffy-and-Angel-ignoring-the-boringly-obvious scenes.

Interesting idea. Then they would've played up the Angel-is-jealous thing, but it might have been cool to see Buffy dump Angel after she got over the angst of the whole relationship thingy with him...Hm.

I guess unlike Mr. Trick, I didn't really see the big picture. Check out the next comment:

From Principal Flutie: The mouse is the least of Kakistos's problems. He also can't use the keyboard, or dial the telephone (definitely not hip to the digital age like Trick), or open soda cans, or tie his shoelaces, or play those peel-and-win games.

GypAng said: Cordy said it perfectly the first time, "Check out slut-o-rama" I think it's weird that Buffy started out not liking her. If only she hadn't started to like her at all. And W and X really liked Faith, until she tried to kill them. I guess wrasslin' aligators isn't exciting after that. Never did like this ep. much. Scott was a baby and Faith a slut.

theyoung1 said: So, whatever Buffy did over the summer, she had time to get a killer tan if nothing else. She must've worked nights at the diner... But, that would make sense since she had ALWAYS worked nights.

Biz said: I've been wondering... how many wacthers are there? Do they have a whole bunch in case hundreds of slayers die or something? shouldn't there only be around 3 or 4 per generation?

From Rachel: It was a good way to introduce Faith and it had its moments.....Also, I'm glad that Giles assures Buffy that there are no such things as Leprechauns. They give me the wiggins.

FurryRabbits said: What's getting me right now is how I TOO thought to myself, "so, a medium soda goes for 89 cents outside of Sunnydale, eh?"

sealthslider said: The best shirt was the one worn by faith's dancing disco demon.

If you want to see what Bark Bytes have come before, visit The Bark Bytes Archives or Dingo Action Archives..I forgot what I named it...it's pretty small right now. Actually I remember what I named it this time. But we all know how I enjoy running gags. Be sure to take this week's Dingo Action! You could also help spread the word..what can I say, I relish having lots of visitors to the site..more barks, and all that.

Friendly reminder: If you've filled out the bottom part about the site before, no need to again..but leave your name if you don't mind..I like to know who said what! Plus, you could be featured on this page. Okay that's probably more of a deterrent, but hey.
