Miss Barton's one of the teachers at Sunnydale High, and in my opinion, has the best personality of all of those we've seen! Well, I still like Dr. Gregory and Principal Flutie, but they're kinda dead. This lady is a hoot, even if she was under the influence of some Milkbars.
We first see Miss Barton, the "classic picture" of schoolteacherdom, what with her being old, wearing a flowered dress, and sporting her white hair in a bun, talking with Principal Snyder in the hall. Actually, she's listening to him. He's telling her that Giles failed to show up to monitor study hall, and that he wants her to do it. So she agrees, and does something I find hysterical. She rolls her eyes. People tell me I do that a lot too, but I've gotten a handle on it. I tell them it's an ocular addiction. Okay not really.
Anyway, once in Study Hall, she gets the kids' attention by clapping her hands and making a speech that has both Xander and Cordelia wanting to marry her!
Miss Barton the Bride?:
Miss Barton: "Hey! We're all stuck here, okay? So now let's just sit quietly and - and pretend we're reading something until we're really sure that old Commandant Snyder's gone. Then we're all outta here!" -- the lady's a gas, okay?
Later, she pops up again at The Bronze, where she sees Buffy and Willow, both of whom ask her if she's okay. Her response?
Barton Bronzes It:
Miss Barton: "I'm cool, Willow. Willow..that's a tree! Are there any nachos in here, Little Tree?"
Y'know, they really need to bring her back on the chocolate again.
